Decided to review this spot after reading a friend's review of Dragon Palace(in Daniel Island). Dragon Palace is a very upscale, high quality Chinese restaurant. Well, Great Wall is their sister restaurant which serves THE SAME very tasty, high quality and properly prepared dishes but it is quite a bit less expensive and it is geared towards take out. And they'll specialize your order to suit your wants. For instance, I like a teriyaki Beef or Mongolian beef but I like it very spicy. Or if you like to infuse a different curry or spice into a dish Great Wall will grant this request. Most other Chinese restaurants will not.

service is very polite. we were actually greeted with warm hellos and good mornings. they gave us some advice of some choice menu items. foodwise is ok. seriously, chinese food in south carolina? you cant really have high expectations for this place. the fried rice we had with the sesame chicken was bland. the wonton soup was cold and the broth had absolutely no flavor.

You cant beat it for the price and everything I mean everything is ready in 10 minutes which is great with a 15 year old. We joke that if they catered a wedding 'it would be ready in 10min' We stick with the combo platters and for 8,95 you get a meal and a 1/2 or in my case two meals. Large portion, with an egg roll and fried rice. It is not gourmet Chinese, just good ol American Chinese food.

I've never done a review before but this place was so bad I just had to. We ordered takeout. When I arrived to pick up the food I immediately realized that I was in the dirtiest restaurant I've ever been to. Just walk in and look up at the ceiling and you will walk right back out. Not to be outdone by this places filthiness the service was appalling. The woman at the cash register would not make eye contact as she made herself busy answering the phone and helping the cook staff. Literally 15 minutes went by before she would address us. Our food had been waiting there the whole time, Getting cold. The food turned out to be bland and greasy. Our order contain no utensils, no soy sauce no napkins. Filthy restaurants with poor service selling bad food sums this place up!

Finding decent chinese food in the south has always seemed to be hard for me...thankfully less than a quarter mile from my house I spotted Great Wall next to Bi-Lo and have never been disappointed. They offer up the typical full menu that you'd find in any other Chinese restaurant but seem to excel when it comes to quality and consistency. Wait times are very minimal and prices are great. If I could change one thing I'd bring down the crab rangoon from my favorite chinese restaurant in Maine to this one. There is seating inside for approximately 20 people comfortably.

Had Great Wall for dinner last night and was impressed. This is a straight forward Chinese place, they have everything you would expect on the menu and specialize in take out. That being said, I would chose Great Wall over Taste of China any day. My friend and I had the combination dinners which is a huge portion served with pork fried rice and egg roll. My sweet and sour chicken was delicious and I plan on eating the rest for lunch today. My friend had the general tsos chicken and was impressed that they honored his request to make it as spicy as possible (although he did complain about the quality of meat, which I didnt notice). Overall: quick and delicious, no surprises, will def return.

Can't believe anyone would ever eat here!! Listen I'm not super picky, I mean come on, I ate here. You know going in that it's not gonna be the best chineese good you've ever ate, but at 8 pm, you'll settle for moderate. 3 of us ate ($40) and the only thing that we ate was the broth of the wonton soup! Everything else was garbage! Ever eat dark meat fatty chicken? If you want to order the seame chicken

I have been going to this restaurant for years since I grew up down the street from there, but I went there last night for the first time in a while since I moved out Mount Pleasant 3 years ago, and WHAT HAPPENED!! This place was filthy, flies were everywhere! One thing I always liked about that restaurant, which unfortunately a lot of Chinese restaurants in the Charleston area CANNOT say about themselves, (ESPECIALLY the one in the Sea Island Shopping Center..GROSS), is this one was ALWAYS Clean, and the staff was always polite. Always. I went in there last night, and to the left where there soda machine is, underneath is a cabinet, and it was open. I look in there and there is this brown and orange and green grime and sticky crap stuck to the cabinet and floor...OMG it was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I couldnt even help but say out loud...WHAT IS THAT! I was just so shocked at how gross it looked! A young boy who was right by the fryer emptying "food trash", (which looked oh man..you dont even want to know), empties the trash, and then a young girl behind the counter says the a young boy in their language Im assuming to go close the door of the cabinet because he goes to close it, and then the young boy starts to talk to a different young girl who was sitting behind the counter shelling peas (with no gloves or anything on), and they just start laughing. No I dont know about what, but it didnt matter. I was then just standing on the carpet waiting for my food. THen the young boy gets the broom and starts sweeping, and gradually makes his way to the carpet, like RIGHT behind where Im standing, so whatever, I moved. Then he starts sweeping where I moved! So I turn around and ask him "do I need to move?" And hes like, no your fine." Im saying to myself, really? Really? All of the places I stood, you couldnt wait 2 minutes for me to get my order and THEN sweep the restaurant?? I was the ONLY PERSON IN THE ENTIRE PLACE! WHen I say "Young" I mean like 16 or 17 years old. This place has changed a lot in the years I have been going there. LIke I said, they have always been a great staff, pleasant, professional, and the portions were always good. But this go around, the place was dirty, the kids the place was filled with could definitely use a lesson in MANNERS and restaurant DO's and DONT's, and the food was NOT worth the money. Sorry, they lost my business.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
